DISTANCES

The Multisport races start with a 1.25 mile run on MainTrail and the east section of Penn Hills trail. First half mile is open then you enter some single trail winding trails past briar patches and swamps and back into transition. You then head out on a 9 mile road bike course. The bike course is one road (Wells Mill Rd) with just two u-turns but not very flat with lots of rolling hills. Once back into transition, put on the running gear and head out on a 2.25 mile trail run to the lake at Citta Boyscout Reservation. The first mile is main trail then you drop off into a challenging and technical creek path and then loop around the lake before entering the water for a .4 mile swim. During the run around the lake you get a great view of the swim course. Pending water temperature you may have a support bag placed at lake (ie. wetsuits). If water is not cold you will need to carry swim gear to lake with you (ie. Goggles) There will be aid stations on run course. After swim, you run 1.75 miles back to transition through more trails and some foot bridges. You mount your bike for one more 9.0 mile ride on same course. When you return to transition you again gear up for one final 3.1 mile trail run taking to you the finish. The Duathlon is the same course minus the swim. After you run around the lake you return to transition. The 5k Trail Run is the same course as the final stage from the Triathlon/Duathlon.

14th Annual Krogh's Turkey Trot

Registration Information

Anytime, anywhere!
Sparta, NJ 07871

Continuing the Tradition before the Tradition

Anytime, Anywhere!

This year we are continuing the 14th Annual Krogh's Turkey Trot tradition with a little twist as a virtual Turkey Trot!  Let's continue the tradition before the tradition in a very different way during this very different year.

When you participate in Krogh’s Turkey Trot, you support innovative educational grants made by the Sparta Education Foundation, whose mission is to promote educational excellence in Sparta Township’s public schools.

What's Next?

Register... of course!
  • $25 to register for the 5K
  • 17 & Under will receive $5 off their $25 5K entry
  • $10 for the 1-Mile Fun Run
  • USATF Members will receive a $3 discount (please, no double dipping).
Now help us spread the word. Tell your friends and family, and anyone that will listen! Not just your immediate family, but those across the country or around the world. Let's see how far we can share this tradition now that it has been virtualized!
Once you register for either the 5K or 1M Fun Run, you will have the week leading up to Thanksgiving to run and submit your Virtual Results! Virtual Results submissions will be accepted starting November 19th (12:01AM ...if so inclined) through Thanksgiving Day (11:59PM). Simply select the Results tab above, click the "Submit Virtual Results" button and lookup your entry. After which you will be transferred to the time entry page where you'll be able to immortalize your support of this time tested tradition!

Making it interesting...

Given that each participant will be running "virtually" on their own, we wanted to ensure you were truly motivated to put your best foot forward. The Sparta Education Foundation race committee in association with Tristate Timing has added a few local courses to the RunGo database! (Use of RunGo and the Krogh's course details can be found below). We're not suggesting you run the Krogh's course, but if you were so inclined, using RunGo would be the way to go! Be sure to check out the list below before you go!

Not from the area?

We invite those outside our area to join in on the festivities as well. Simply search routes using RunGo or make your own. After you submit your time we'd like to include all newly created RunGo courses to the list below so others in "your neck of the woods" can give it a shot. Simply post a link to the course on our Facebook page along with your story and we'll update our course listings. No better way to honor this tradition than becoming a part of it! Be the first from your state to post one!

New to RunGo?

  • Download/Install the app and get moving! IOS or Android!

  • Need a RunGo "jump start"... 👉 Watch this 2 minute video!

  • More information on the RunGo App can be found on their FAQ.

1st Day VIRTUAL 5K Run & VIRTUAL 1 Mile Walk

Friday January 1, 2021
Registration Information

Location

Anywhere you like!
Fair Lawn, NJ 07410

Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary presents the annual 1stDayK Run & 1 Mile Fun Walk to benefit Rotary charities and local and international service projects.

Start your year healthy by doing a 5K Run or a 1 Mile Walk on the first day of 2021.

Oh wait!  Covid-19 is still with us!  We can’t have our usual 1stDay5K (with fruit and bagels) as a live event as we have for so many years!  But we are not going to let that stop us, are we?

For 2021, the 1stDay5K Run and 1 Mile Walk will be virtual.

What does that mean, you may ask? Well, online registration is the same as always, but instead of driving to Fair Lawn and running in a crowd, you run or walk in your choice of time and place.  Run in your backyard, a local street, your favorite park, a treadmill. Run wherever you happen to be: east coast, west coast, all around the world.  Just remember to observe CDC recommended guidelines for social distancing, etc.

How does it work?    Register online anytime between October 1 and December 31, 2020. The fee for our first virtual race is only $10.  You will be sent a beautiful, downloadable virtual bib and a link to submit your time and photos.  Complete your run anytime between 12:00:01am of Jan. 1, 2021 and 8:30pm on Jan. 31, 2021. All finishers will receive a beautiful certificate of completion.   Remember to include your team or club name.  This is a great chance to involve more of your friends and family. Compare times, locations, weather and New Year resolutions.

Unfortunately, due to present conditions, we will not be awarding trophies or medals for this year’s race. However, we will still award the plaque for the team/club with the most entries.

Thank you for joining us for this virtual event and for supporting the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary.

2020 CEA/Johanna Foods Flock to Flemington Challenge

Monday October 12, 2020
Registration Information

Location

Anywhere you like!
Any City, NJ 00000

Each year, the CEA/JFI Turkey Trot brings together people of all ages and abilities to raise vital funds to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

The Flock to Flemington challenges are intended to help raise funds for our programs while keeping our CEA/JFI Turkey Trot community connected and fit. This year we invite you to continue this holiday tradition, with friends and family members, and join the Flock to Flemington Challenge.

Flight One will depart from your choice of eight different locations on October 12, 2020 and will give participants 45 days to record their times and distances as they run or walk (the distance) from as far away as Plymouth, MA or Williamsburg, VA or as close as Morristown, NJ or Philadelphia, PA or one of several other points along the way to Flemington, all associated with our Colonial and Revolutionary past.

Flight Two, for the faster “fliers” will depart all starting towns on November 1, 2020, giving participants 26 Days to complete the challenge. The object is for everyone to Flock to Flemington and enjoy Thanksgiving together (virtually) this year in anticipation of returning to the streets and running or walking as a group once again very soon.

Each time you complete a distance based exercise activity such as running or walking, you advance along the map to Flemington, NJ.  This is the perfect tool for maintaining focus and motivation whether you are training for the CEA/JFI Turkey Trot or just wanting to have fun while keeping fit!  Go solo or start a group and invite others to join you in support of CEA and our mission to facilitate career pathways and community employment for students and adults with disabilities.

Registration Information

Location

VIRTUAL
Cranford, NJ 07016

The Cranford Cure Diabetes 5K is typically held at Nomahegan Park, however this year we have decided to convert our 5k to a virtual race due to Covid-19. The 5k is held annually to rally support to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, a disease that impacts many people in our communities. Through the growing number of race participants and the generosity of many of our event sponsors and volunteers, we are proud of our partnership and commitment to JDRF.org, the beneficiary of this event.

This 5k can be done whenever and where ever (run or walk)  you would like to complete it, at any time between 9/27/20 and 10/11/20. Don't forget to wear your tutu to continue to support #tutusfortype1.

As an additional challenge we invite you to complete 22.4 miles over the course of the 2 weeks. This is an average of 1.6 miles per day to represent the 1.6 million Americans diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes today.

Please share your success with us through our social media channels. Use the hashtag #SQC or #tutusfortype1.

Sunday October 18, 2020
Registration Information

Location

VIRTUAL 5K
Metuchen, NJ 08840

Due to the continuing Coronavirus pandemic, our 3rd Annual Sam Liss 5K will be virtual! Registrants will receive a tech shirt, and can run or walk in a socially distant location of your choice. Since this crisis has limited our fundraising efforts, we need your support now more than ever!  Please register by September 30th to guarantee a shirt.  We will have shirt pick-ups at various NJ locations in October; and will also ship out-of-state.

All proceeds benefit Breaking the Chain through Education, a non-profit organization based in New Jersey that is dedicated to eradicating child slavery in Ghana, West Africa. Sam Liss, Metuchen High School Class of 2010, was one of the founding members of the BTCTE at Metuchen High School. He tragically passed away from cancer in 2017. This event honors him and the organization he supported.
